The upcoming IBEW Local 104 quarterly newsletter features many items pertinent to the interests of our members, including an update on the Northern Pass project, an article celebrating Judy McAndrew, 104’s first woman JL, and messages from Business Manager Brian Murphy and Referral Agent Jim Breare.
In the Northern Pass portion of this quarter’s newsletter, you can expect to hear about Eversource Energy’s planned divestiture of several New England power plants and what that means for the future of New England’s energy landscape. You will also read about how New Hampshire’s House of Representatives voted against the bipartisan H.B. 431, which recommended that transmission lines over fifty feet high be buried, as well as how the Department of Energy denied the New Hampshire delegation’s request for an extended public comment period following the release of the Draft Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) for the Northern Pass. Many positive things have happened over the last few months regarding Northern Pass which should encourage us to continue our firm support of the highly-contested project.
Also in the newsletter, Business Manager Brian Murphy proudly announces the unification of all the Local 104 union halls: Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and Maine. He also discusses the importance of reviewing and practicing the IBEW Code of Excellence every day, while reminding us to come climb and enjoy a great time at the annual Rodeo and Summer Outing on August 8.
Meanwhile, Referral Agent Jim Breare celebrates the end of another “brutal winter” by letting us know that the work outlook for the summer is favorable, with jobs starting in all sections of Local 104’s jurisdiction. He also reminds members that their dues must be paid and their certifications must be current in order to be referred out.
This last quarter has been one of hard work, great change, celebration and opportunity. We invite our members to stay informed by carefully reading the latest edition of IBEW Local 104’s quarterly newsletter, which members will be receiving later this month.
