IBEW Local 104 has a long history of philanthropic giving. One of the prime examples is the support that Local 104 has given this year to the Honor Flight Program.
Honor Flight Network is a non-profit organization created solely to honor America’s veterans for all their sacrifices.
The mission of the Honor Flight program is to transport America’s Veterans to Washington, DC to visit those memorials dedicated to honor the service and sacrifices of themselves and their friends.
IBEW Local 104 was able to sponsor and honor World War II and Korean War Veterans with a visit to the memorials via a flight from Rhode Island to Washington DC on October 1, 2016. “It takes a tremendous amount of planning and a tremendous amount of dedication from the people that are doing this,” said Tim Burgess, IBEW Local 104 Organizer and Business Representative.
The day trip concluded with all of the veterans visiting the Arlington National Cemetery, watching the Changing of the Guard ceremony and participating in laying the wreath at the tomb of the unknown soldier.
The members of IBEW Local 104 are proud to support The Honor Flight Network, but what we do will never be enough to thank all of the brave men and women who have made significant sacrifices or given their lives, in defense of our country.
